The Process
- Our rigorous procedures go way beyond industry standards to provide
superior refurbishing, oxygen cleaning and testing.
- Inspect and test valves, gauges & piping
- Pressure check inner vessel Natural Evaporation Rate (NER) testing for 72
hours
- Check vacuum integrity with a helium mass spectrometer for leaks
- Repair leaks re-evacuation and 24 hour heat on inner vessel
- Sandblast, prime & paint carbon steel
- Rebuff and hand polish head on stainless steel
- Replace damaged plumbing, gauges valves and regulators
- Repair damaged foot ring
 |
First step, tank received by shipping department. Tagged with tracking
sheet. |
 |
Second step, each tank is helium mass spected with state of the art
Varian leak detector. |
 |
Third step, after tanks have been checked for leaks they are then
placed on vacuum racks. Here the inner cylinder is heated to 400 degrees
and a vacuum is pulled for 96 hours, back to manufacture's specs or
better. |
 |
After tanks have been passed the vacuum room, they will be taken to
top works, where the cylinders will have all parts removed, cleaned,
overhauled and set at the correct pressures. |
 |
The NER (Normal Evaporation Rate Test) is done to every tank with a
100 pounds of liquid nitrogen for 3 days. On the fourth day, the
tank is tested in an operating environment with liquid nitrogen. |
  |
Carbon steel tanks are blasted and painted, Stainless are cleaned with
an oxygen compatible cleaner and then buffed. |
 |
Each tank is put on a pallet, wrapped, boxed and tagged for shipment.
This is the final step in our process. |
